If like me, you are an avid Twitter user, dedicated Snap-chatter, who uses their phone to manage their entire existence, chances are you burn through your phone battery by lunchtime. Okay, perhaps that’s a slight exaggeration but its totally feasible if your phone is an iPhone but anyway, a portable charger is almost a must-have if you have an iPhone, which is sad but, what can you do eh?
I’ve kissed a lot of frogs before getting to my prince charming of a portable charger, which explains why I had to make a quick post on this, to save someone the trouble of burning through your pocket trying to find a decent one which actually holds an acceptable amount of power.
I opted for the 10,000 mAh model of the Amazon Basics portable charger after doing tonnes of research (there are other models which are lower and higher capacity). Turns out that some portable chargers floating around on the interweb are sold with claims of being ‘high capacity’ but when tested, don’t live up to that claim at all.
When fully charged, mine will charge my iPhone 6 about 4-5 times. It has two charging ports so you can charge two devices at the same time. Size-wize, it is slightly larger than my phone and heavier, but I wouldn’t say it’s bulky. It comes with a cute velvet carrying pouch and a 3-inch charging cable, which seems a bit daft but that’s forgivable. The only major downside is that it take a long time to recharge the portable charger to full capacity so it’s ideal to do so overnight if you plan on using it the next day.
It has been just over a month since I got it and so far, I am really impressed. This is my second AmazonBasics product, my first being their lighting cables, which are good quality, durable and don’t develop a turtle neck after a few weeks of use. They are Apple certified and much better than the ones Apple provide, in terms of longevity, and such great value for money at £5.29 each… You really can’t beat that!
