As promised, below is the first part of the tutorial on how to make the ‘Summer Curls’ wig, which I featured a blog post a little while ago. I have split the tutorial into two parts because 1) it would be too long if I tried to get it all in one video, and 2) my battery died while recording the rest of it and I didn’t realise it at the time so, I will post the second part on how to curl and style the hair soon.

This  method is neither the quickest nor the simplest, but it makes for a sturdy wig which lasts! I can wear the hair for a couple of months, and when I eventually get bored of it, I can pack it away, then bring it out again for another few months. All I will say is, you have to be patient and set aside a few hours, hopefully not in one sitting, if you want to make this wig. The good thing is, you don’t need to be skilled. As long as you can use a needle and thread, you are good to go.

Afro Twist Braiding Hair (3-4 packs), Curved weaving needle and thread, Weaving Cap, Scissors and Small crotchet needle (optional, not pictured)

All the supplies you would need to make this wig should be available at your local afro-hair shop, Amazon, or eBay. For anyone interested in the canvas block (i.e., the foam head) that I am using in the video, I got it on eBay, just search ‘canvas block’ , alternatively, you can use a simple foam head if you have one already.

I hope you enjoy the video and find it useful.
